How do soldier live in Iraq and Afghanistan

How do soldier live in Iraq and Afghanistan?
What I mean is how do they live? Do they live in tents? If so, what does it look like and how big is the tent? How many people live inside it? And so on....

they live in what's called a CHU (combat housing unit). It's basically a small tin trailer. In most units, officers and enlisted who are E6 and above get their own chu, and E5 and below share a chu with one other person.

Agreed on the CHUs, but only our CO, XO, and maybe 1SG got their own CHU. I think policy was field grade officers or E-8 and above got their own CHU. Warrant officers had roommates, at least up through CW-4. I'm not sure about our sole CW-5. Everyone E-7 and below had roomies. E-5 and below could be three to a CHU, but that was usually temporary (a month or two) and they were mostly set up for two men.
