If they don't want to go, they should get a job elsewhere
2 :
The Joint Chiefs should have lived in Bosnia, since they were forcing the soldiers to, right?
3 :
Wrong! This statement doesn't make any logical sense.
4 :
Ha ha!! Maybe she will get forced out of office. The State Department personel seems to be very upset.
5 :
No. The peons of the state department want all the bennies but they don't want any risk. Their choice is go or go find a job they are qualified for elsewhere....such as McD's.
6 :

This has nothing to do w/ Condi..This is stupidity ! It'spolitical spin designed to create another issue to deflect attention from Congress's incompetence and failure to do their job (create, void legislation, create and allocate a budget, ...) The "diplomats" (diplomatic/foreign service core.) just like the military pledged to SERVE . -They KNEW that they would get assignments/jobs based on when/and WHERE they were needed. -They KNEW that many would be REQUIRED to cross train and receive training at whatever site they were sent to.. -They are whining and mad simply because THEIR life may be disrupted by a REQUIRED change of station. -Failure to comply with their employment contract will result in termination and LOSS of pension. The media loves distress and happily broadcasts thei whines/complaints and fears that DUH some assignments/posts have greater risks !! ............................................... Maybe this response by the diplomats REVEALS why the diplomatic core. has such a limited rate of success. Egotistical whiners whose major focus is on THEIR comfort ,distaste for change and the hassles of moving are certainly not MY idea of dedicated professionals sworn to serve the NATION. Their career choice was never a guarantee of a NO risk, hardship,or posting in a non desired locale..Do they actually read what they sign of simply figure that they can engage in a other talk designed to create a compromise a win/win thing.?? …Military families are routinely transferred to "new" assignments- far from their friends/families, face all the headaches, expenses of moving a family, getting a new place to live, new schools, winter clothes if moving north,,spouse loses job, kids lose friends or slots on sport teams, activities/clubs, etc. OR they are forced to endure separation when service member is deployed to an area where families are not supported. --Diplomats always get their "residences" provided, have security, and many upscale services like maids, laundry service, hot meals, Internet, phones, random trips back to US for briefings and to visit friends/family, immediate transportation out if things get rought or a family medical emergency occurs,. .etc,. They were adults when they accepted their job and knew that getting a post when and where they wanted was not guaranteed. THEY served to meet the Nations (diplo/foreign service corps) NEEDS..Not all postings/embassy are blessed with great locations, central heat/AC and pest/insect free. MAYBE this will be a good thing as those complaining will get tossed out making room for those who truly want to assist the NATION. If they were too stupid to understand their job contract then I don’t want them negotiating anything let alone writing up an agreement or treaty!! Everything is NOT negotiable especially a job contract where one agrees to “xx†in return for a salary. Maybe Sharpton or J. Jackson will ride in ..demand that they be given "rights" they dont have because they are being mistreated...

Everyone is saying the Iraq/Iran situation should be settled by diplomacy, yet the diplomats won't go. Things that make you go hmmmmm. Since 2003, 3 diplomats have been killed. Those charged with protecting them, Blackwater, had 18 people killed while protecting those erstwhile diplomats through 2005. Other Private Contractors, who man and guard convoys of materiel vital to the reconstruction and security of Iraq have lost hundreds. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/06/15/AR2007061502602.html The "Peace Dividend" at work. I ask you, if the role of the truck driver is vital to Iraq and diplomacy is the only answer, why are diplomats shirking their responsibility while those truck drivers traverse Iraq daily? Are they not paid as well as those truck drivers? Are there lives more important than the truck drivers? A diplomat who refuses to work their diplomatic magic is worthless. Apparently the terrorists have the diplomats terrified to the point of non-functionality. What are we paying them for, to cower in the corner? Fire the lot of them and find people with conviction AND courage. A diplomat who cowers in the corner is not an asset, they are a liability. If the people we are told we should be relying on are unreliable sniveling cowards, what does that tell me about our diplomatic service. It tells me they will be pushovers in any negotiation. Should we send in another division, wipe out as many threats as possible, all if necessary, so our diplomats would have no one left to scare them? Who would they negotiate with, our friends? The personnel at the State Department are just a waste of resources supporting a crowd who no longer can even talk a good game, much less play one. Typical of a career bureaucrat, useless until needed and then they become worthless as well.
