Protect their freedom of speech, if they can burn the American Flag on our soil, we can burn the Quaran, this does not mean I agree with it. I simply support the first amendment. I don't follow any religion so this is my pure unbiased general opinionated answer.

There were 8 million Christians living in Iraq. They all got kicked out or killed. I don't actually know how many were there but they were definitely there. They were oppressed and most of them left a while ago.

I would hope that if they're truly Christian they will "turn the other cheek" But of course if they were to react with violence a good majority of the Christian right would see that as totally justifiable.

They would do nothing on pain of death.

Iraq is a much small country. There, 8 million would be a significant portion of the population. Besides, Muslims have been burning churches and bibles for a long time. Where have you been?
9 :
Guess what, Christian churches in Iraq were bombed, a little bit more up front and personal than book burning.

Wait a minute. I thought the debate ended once we established that they had a Constitutional right to do so. At least that was the analysis when the Left was discussing construction of the Mosque. Are you now saying that offending the religious sensibilities of people is important too?

Leave. Why would anyone even want to go to iraq or anywhere in the middle east. Its a big desert with oilwells and terrorests

Try researching how Christian minorities act when oppressed. It has happened quite often and has been far worse than the burning of holy books. I do not condone what one church in Florida plans to do. I believe that their pastor is in the wrong. You, however, are taking a similar position as the church in differentiating religious groups.

The United States is not a Christian nation. And, they do worse than burning Christian bibles. It is a well documented fact that many of those countries prefer to burn Christians instead.

well they sure as hell wouldnt start blowing things up in God's name. we would be upset but christains as a whole would not do this. maybe a select few as have already happened will be upset and make threats but would not kill. you should read the original Koran and then read the Bible. see the differences. the Bible says that killing is a horrible crime to do to anyone. the Koran says to convert non-believers or kill them. BIG difference. dont compare the two religions in that way.

hey now, don't be making people actually think on this site. That's not allowed. Just keep it hateful, bigoted, and create fear of everyone, that's the best way to get by.

what it is called a RELIGION!!!??? it is religion leads their followers to do bad things,killing,burning..? if one has wisdom enough there will be no war,no attack each other..

I would say.. it's their country they can burn whatever they want.. besides.. the word of God is in our hearts, the Bible while a great book is still just a book. I don't know what the Muslims are getting so wound up about.. if they don't' like it.. go back to wherever they or their people come from. This is America.. we can burn what we want. And by the way, I would never stand on their flag, even in protest.. that is insulting!

there would be a lot of people having their heads CHOPPED OFF ! !

We Christians don't worship the bible but the words in it. We do not put the bible as a Icon but God word is. So the mass majority of Christians would say it a symbol of free speech not a assault on our beliefs or God.

I think what the church in Florida is planning is reprehensible and irresponsible - but at the same time I do believe it is protected by the 1st amendment. It is just odd to see the first people who would complain if bibles were burnt rushing to their defense. As for Christians in Iraq - roughly 3% of the population is Christian (and so about 700,000). This number has been seriously reduced by an exodus of nearly 600,000 Assyrian Christians to Syria following the US led invasion in 2003. Saddam Hussein, while not being the nicest guy around, did protect freedom of religion in Iraq. In fact former deputy Prime Minister and close confidante of Hussein, Tariq Aziz (who served from 1979 to 2003) is a practicing Christian.
